BASEM 17-year-old child from Rafah

His family lives in bad circumstances, it consists of 6 members: the father, the mother, 2 boys, and 2 girls. both parents are jobless. 4 of the children are students. One child is a university student. The family’s only source of income is financial aid from the Ministry of social affairs about £300 every four months. The income is irregular and not enough to support the family, due to the very difficult economic situation in Gaza. The family lives in their own home which consists of one bedroom, a kitchen, a lounge, and a bathroom. The house is in very bad condition. Unfortunately, as the family is quite large, the house is not big enough for them to live comfortably. In addition to this, the family is in dire need of a roof replacement as the current roof allows rainwater to leak through to the house during the winter. Basem is in the tenth grade. He studies at a governmental school that is near his home, so he does not need tuition and transportation fees. He is an excellent student and he likes all school subjects, such as Arabic, English, Maths, Science, and Social Studies. He wants to take private lessons to improve his educational attainment at school more and more, but his family cannot pay for those private lessons, because of their bad financial condition. he dreams to be a doctor. Luckily, the family has health insurance and all the family members are in good health condition. No one suffers from any disease. Al Majd Association for Development sponsors Basem and his family, along with tens of families in the Gaza strip, this will ensure for those families to have suitable and humanitarian life and will enable them to provide food, medication, and education.
